Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas VR has been "indefinitely delayed," according to an announcement from Meta.
For nearly three years, gamers have eagerly awaited updates on *Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas VR*, a project originally announced in 2021 for the Meta Quest 2. However, as Meta transitioned its focus to the Meta Quest 3, information about the game became increasingly scarce. Now, Meta has confirmed that *GTA: San Andreas VR* has been "indefinitely delayed."
The news came in response to a comment on Meta’s official YouTube channel, where a Meta Quest VR representative stated, "GTA: San Andreas is on hold indefinitely while we both focus on other projects. We look forward to working with our friends at Rockstar in the future." Meta later confirmed this information to IGN.There are lingering questions about the development progress of the project, especially since Meta never released any screenshots or video footage of *Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas VR*. The original *San Andreas*, released by Rockstar in 2004, was a groundbreaking title, offering a much larger open world than its predecessors, *Grand Theft Auto III* and *Vice City*, along with a compelling narrative.
Due to the enduring popularity of the game, *San Andreas* was included alongside *GTA III* and *Vice City* in *Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition*, which was released in 2021 for all modern consoles and PC. If Meta's *GTA: San Andreas VR* port remains indefinitely on hold, *The Definitive Edition* might be the only way to revisit the iconic title in the foreseeable future.
