Ubisoft Unveils Full System Requirements and PC-Specific Features for Star Wars Outlaws

With just two weeks remaining until the release of Star Wars Outlaws on August 30, Ubisoft has unveiled the official PC system requirements and a detailed list of PC-specific features available for those with the right hardware.

Running the game at its "ultra" settings will require a powerful setup, but the requirements are more manageable at lower settings. As with many PC games, Star Wars Outlaws allows for customization—tweaking different settings to achieve the best balance between visual quality and performance that suits your setup.

Here’s a breakdown of the system requirements:

Minimum

  • Visual Settings: 1080p/30 fps/Low preset with upscaler set to quality
  • GPU: GeForce GTX 1660 6GB / AMD RX 5600 XT 6GB / Intel Arc a750 8GB (ReBAR ON)
  • CPU: Intel Core i7-8700K / AMD Ryzen 5 3600
  • RAM: 16GB (dual-channel mode)
  • OS: Windows 10/11 with DirectX 12
  • SSD Storage: 65GB

Recommended

  • Visual Settings: 1080p/60 fps/High preset with upscaler set to quality
  • GPU: GeForce RTX 3060 8GB / AMD RX 6700 XT 12GB
  • CPU: Intel Core i5-10400 / AMD Ryzen 5 5600X
  • RAM: 16GB (dual-channel mode)
  • OS: Windows 10/11 with DirectX 12
  • SSD Storage: 65GB

Enthusiast

  • Visual Settings: 1440p/60 fps/High preset with upscaler set to quality
  • GPU: GeForce RTX 4070 12GB / AMD RX 6800 XT 16GB
  • CPU: Intel Core i5-11600K / AMD Ryzen 7 5800X
  • RAM: 16GB (dual-channel mode)
  • OS: Windows 10/11 with DirectX 12
  • SSD Storage: 65GB

Ultra

  • Visual Settings: 4K/60 fps/Ultra preset with upscaler set to quality
  • GPU: GeForce RTX 4080 16GB / AMD RX 7900 XTX 24GB
  • CPU: Intel Core i7-12700K / AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D
  • RAM: 16GB (dual-channel mode)
  • OS: Windows 10/11 with DirectX 12
  • SSD Storage: 65GB

These specifications will help players determine how best to experience Star Wars Outlaws based on their hardware, whether they’re aiming for the highest visual fidelity or seeking a smoother performance.

An interesting aspect of these system requirements, as noted by hardware writer Jeremy Laird earlier this month, is that "upscaling is the new normal." Even at the minimum settings, Star Wars Outlaws will require the use of DLSS, FSR, or another upscaling technology to meet Ubisoft's frame rate targets. This means that the game will actually run at a lower-than-native resolution and then be upscaled to provide a smoother experience.

While upscaling itself isn't a major issue, it could pose challenges for lower-end GPUs, which may struggle more than expected. It's worth noting that Intel Arc GPUs are only mentioned under the "minimum" settings category, indicating that they might not perform as well with higher settings. Given this, it might be wise to consider the "recommended" specs as a more realistic baseline, at least until the game is released and you can see how it performs for other players.

As for the PC-specific features in Star Wars Outlaws, here’s what you can expect—though availability will depend on your hardware:

  • Ray-Traced Global Illumination, Reflections, and Shadows: These features will enhance the realism of lighting, reflections, and shadows, making environments more immersive.
  • NVIDIA RTX Dynamic Illumination (RTXDI) Support: This adds more realistic and dynamic lighting effects, utilizing NVIDIA's RTX technology.
  • NVIDIA DLSS 3.5 Support: Includes ray reconstruction, Frame Generation, and Super Resolution, allowing for better performance with less graphical compromise.
  • Intel XESS 1.3 and AMD FSR 3.0 Support: Both technologies offer upscaling and frame generation, helping to maintain performance across different hardware setups.
  • In-Depth Customization Options: Although somewhat vague, this likely includes detailed graphics settings, allowing players to tweak visual elements to their liking.
  • Uncapped Frame Rate: Players can push their hardware to its limits without being restricted by a frame rate cap.
  • 21:9 Cinematic Display Mode: A mode designed to provide a more cinematic experience on ultra-wide monitors.
  • Multi-Monitor and Ultrawide Support: Ensures that players with multiple monitors or ultra-wide setups can fully utilize their hardware.

These features, particularly the ray tracing and upscaling options, offer a glimpse into how Star Wars Outlaws aims to deliver a cutting-edge visual experience on PC, provided you have the hardware to support it.

Here’s a still from the new PC gameplay trailer that showcases some of these features in action, offering a glimpse of the customization options and graphical fidelity players can expect.

Star Wars Outlaws is scheduled for release on August 30 and will be available on PC through the Ubisoft Store and the Epic Games Store. Players can gain early access—up to three days before the official release—by purchasing the Gold or Ultimate edition of the game, both of which come with a season pass and various extra cosmetics. Alternatively, early access is also available for subscribers to Ubisoft+.
