Black Myth: Wukong has shattered all-time player records on Steam, surpassing the peaks set by Elden Ring and Cyberpunk 2077. The game has reached an impressive milestone of 1.2 million concurrent players, and the number continues to grow.
The most-wishlisted game on Steam, Black Myth: Wukong, has now become the most-played game on the platform based on current player numbers. Just two hours after its launch, over 1,249,525 players were actively engaged in this single-player action RPG, propelling it into the ranks of Steam's all-time record launches.
This impressive number has already eclipsed an elite list of heavy-hitters, including Hogwarts Legacy with 879,000 players, Elden Ring with 953,000, and Cyberpunk 2077 with 1.054 million, according to SteamDB.
Next in line is Dota 2, a milestone Black Myth is likely to surpass soon. The bigger question is whether Black Myth: Wukong can top the all-time concurrent player records set by PUBG and Palworld, which peaked at 3.26 million and 2.1 million players, respectively, in January 2018 and January 2024.
This feat seems entirely within reach. Despite being a single-player game, Black Myth is already posting remarkable numbers, especially before noon in China, with most of the global audience still waking up. The player count is only expected to climb further.
